Kei Ichikawa "Fish Story"

Sep 6 - Sep 28
Details:

Tagboat presents "Fish Story," the debut solo exhibition by Kei Ichikawa, a rising young artist currently studying oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts. Ichikawa blends realistic Western techniques with ultra-flat Japanese styles, creating works that explore modern society's sense of lack through characters like the suit-clad Akio (modeled after the artist's grandfather) and two-dimensional magical girls. The exhibition includes around 15 new works, featuring large-scale paintings and silk screen prints. It is a unique fusion of reality and fiction, reflecting the psychological struggles of today's youth.
