As a member of the Animate Group, we provide full-service localization, from translation to promotion overseas, for Japanese entertainment companies.

We are professionals who not only translate, but also consider each region's culture, history, politics, and religion to help clients create content that truly matches their fans' desires and lets them enjoy Japan's unique entertainment.

Over 90% of our current employees are foreign nationals who are all fans themselves and apply their enthusiasm to their daily office duties.

We are looking for translators/editors for English who are native speakers and are experienced in the gaming industry.

  • Localization of Japanese novel games to English (男性向けR-18)
  • Work in a team of 3 with a shared glossary and guidelines
  • Work fully remote, about 15 hours per week

Salary

The paycheck is calculated on the amount of JA characters you can translate. Working around 15 hours per week should grant you about 150,000 JPY. Rate per character to be negotiated after application.

Qualifications

  • Have at least 2 years of experience in localizing JA-EN
  • Have a deep interest in the anime/otaku culture
  • Be able to translate and edit text by applying existing guidelines and come up with updates for them
  • Speak Japanese at N2 level or above (to be verified during the interview)

About the Company

Our overseas staff team, who understand Japanese culture (especially in the field of subculture contents) and are fluent in Japanese, will provide the following services for overseas customers in fluent Japanese.

  • Translation and localization
  • Management/planning of overseas applications/websites
  • Promotion support for overseas clients
  • CS (customer support) support for overseas customers
  • Design/promotional materials for overseas markets
  • Support for overseas subsidies

Languages supported English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, etc.

After the first screening, you will be asked to take a translation test (online) where you'll have to edit an AI-translated game scenario and translate some short texts. For those passing the test, there will be a short online interview to discuss possible deadlines and other conditions.

You will be translating a game scenario. This job is project-based, but once registered in our database we will contact you again with new similar projects.
