Job Description

We are looking for a self-motivated Marketing professional who is passionate about establishing a powerful brand to disrupt a traditional category, creating unique, breakthrough and engaging brand customer experience, and developing a strong portfolio based on customer needs. This role reports directly to the General Manager, Japan, and is the member of the Japan leadership team, responsible for the development and execution of overall brand strategy, media planning, marketing activation, portfolio strategy, PR strategy and marketing strategy and planning. Marketing is a key strategic focus of AG1 as we become a more culturally relevant and recognizable brand. He/She should have strong strategic and operational leadership capabilities, and a passion for driving business success through collaborative, cross-functional efforts. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to roll up your sleeves and take ownership of tasks spanning across the different areas of marketing. 


Responsibilities

We are after health-conscious high achievers that can harness the power of marketing for the greater good and change people's health across Japan. As Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for developing a sound marketing strategy working closely with the GM Japan as well as the Marketing team across the region and the globe. 

AG1 partnered with key Podcast figures such as Joe Rogan and Andrew Huberman in the US which helped to position AG1 as the first all-in-one-supplement product as well as identifying the target segments to harvest at the BOFU . Unfortunately, Podcasts are in its infancy stage in Japan, therefore, we will not be able to simply replicate the success model in the US or enjoy the overflow of its influence witnessed in markets like the UK and Australia.

In this role, you will be expected to develop our marketing strategy and planning to build awareness, educate the consumers, and to drive customer acquisition/retention for AG1 and the rest of our portfolio. This role is the driving force of managing a complete integrated push/pull marketing programs linking, but not limited to D2C, PR, and Partner Marketing.

In this role, insights into action are key. You will need a deep understanding of the addressable market and target audience for our products. Conducting market research, and building customer segments that can deliver the commercial runway against core creative and targeted digital media strategy. 

A key part of this role is leading the D2C e-commerce strategy to drive new customer acquisition. This is the foundation of our business. We will need a leader with hands-on experience with digital, CRM and SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Ads manager and Salesforce. This role is a lead role for the business in how to execute best in class digital funneling strategies that can be tracked with core metrics and ROI forecasts.

  • Lead day to day operations of a purpose-driven, customer-focused brand
  • Define, build and grow brand collaborations, affiliate, partnerships and community groups that drive WOM and referral of our products.
  • Close partnership with the GM Japan to build short and long-term business strategy
  • Engage, influence, and align key internal stakeholders to ensure excellent execution of strategy and activities.
  • Partner with internal and external partners (including agencies, consumer insights, design and customer relations and sales teams), inspiring them to develop the Omnichannel strategy to deliver brand sales, share growth, increase penetration, and build brand equity.
  • Work in a close partnership with the Global and Regional Marketing team to deliver against best-in-industry campaigns and initiatives that also improve the lives of our consumers.

Qualifications

  • Being customer-centric
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Ads manager, SalesForce, etc.
  • Proven experience in using consumer insights, research & data analysis to develop brand strategies.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a consistent “can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in Japanese a pre-requisite.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Degree in Marketing, Management or similar relevant field
