Job Description

You will work with business teams in Japan as well as globally distributed IT teams, to conceive of, design and develop digital solutions based on our global data analytics platform. You will have the opportunity to work cross functionally and act in various different roles (i.e. System Analyst, Subject Matter Expert, etc.). You will be expected to lead projects, manage vendors, and liaise with key internal stakeholders. You will lead the adoption of new data technologies in Japan and will be the technology champion for data innovation.


Responsibilities

Business Consultancy

  • Actively partner with business functions and consult on data topics.
  • Clearly communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop deep understanding of business domains and related business processes.
  • Proactively develop project proposals and influence business decisions as a trusted adviser focused on value.

Technology Expertise

  • Develop and implement data analytics strategies to support business objectives.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data analytics tools, platforms, and infrastructure.
  • Manage IT operations (i.e configuration management, system lifecycle documentation etc.)
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in data analytics, suggesting new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.

Collaboration

  • Work across cultures, geographies, functions, and organization levels.
  • Champion agile methods and efficiency.
  • Act as a change agent through collaboration and inclusion.

Management & Monitoring

  • Manage projects.
  • Steer external partners/vendors.
  • Ensure system compliance.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Inspire others to reach their full potential.

Qualifications

  • Masters or bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering, preferably in a quantitative field
  • 6+ years of working experience in Business Intelligence/ Data Analytics
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and programming languages, such as Python, R, SQL, and Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud technologies, such as AWS/Azure cloud services.
  • Strong project management skills/ business analysis experience required (PMI/SCRUM Certification added advantage) 
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
  • Demonstrates rapid and continuous learning. Comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Has the drive to achieve. Pursues initiatives with energy and persistence even in the face of challenges. Confident to try things that have not been done before.
  • Has the emotional intelligence and adaptability to thrive in any environment.
  • Familiarity with the Japanese market, culture, and business practices.
  • Cross-cultural competency paired with fluent language skills in Japanese and English.
  • Strong influencing skills and change management capabilities.

Location

The primary location is Tokyo and the work hours are flexible. Work can be done both on-site and remote based on the subject matter and alignment with the supervisor.
