Job Description:

In this highly visible role, a successful hire will be responsible for all marketing efforts including planning, research, advertising, communications, and public relations in line with our objectives. You will lead a team of professionals who will help turn your vision into tangible success; you will report directly to the co-founders.


  • Build a result-oriented marketing strategy for both immediate and long-term growth

  • Increase brand awareness through PR, events, and other activities

  • Work together with our advertising agency and constantly improve our CPA channels for more cost-efficient customer acquisition

  • Work together with our SEO consultant and content team to develop a content marketing strategy that drives both awareness and conversion

  • Explore new marketing channels

  • Provide data-driven insights to stakeholders and internal teams based on platform usage analytics


  • 3+ years in a marketing executive role

  • 5+ years experience in marketing a digital product or brand (platform is a plus)

  • Proven track record of delivering results and managing teams

  • Analytical mindset

  • High efficiency

  • Creative thinker who can come up with new ideas and projects

About byFood: is Japan’s one-stop platform for foodie travelers. Users can book food experiences through our site, like cooking classes and food tours, and make easy restaurant reservations without using Japanese. We aim to connect with travelers through every part of their experience, from the early planning stages to the trip itself, and maintain a connection long after they have returned home.

Before coming to Japan, we provide travelers with information and inspiration through our youtube videos and blog posts. We hope to encourage adventurous eating and savvy traveling in Japan by combining hands-on food experiences with our extensive and comprehensive articles and videos.

Once in the country, they can enjoy cooking classes, food tours, and experiences and make connections with our local hosts available through our platform. ByFood makes Japan’s food scene accessible to anyone, dissolving the language barrier and providing everything foodie travelers need to have a fulfilling (and filling) trip to Japan. By sharing Japanese food culture with the world, byFood strives to bring locals and travelers together, help small businesses, and celebrate authentic Japanese cuisine.

After their trip, they can continue to support their favorite hosts via our e-commerce function, maintaining the relationships made long after the initial trip. In addition, for every experience booking or paid restaurant reservation that’s placed on the platform, byFood donates school meals to children in need through the Food for Happiness program. So far, over 350k donations have been made through this initiative.
