Job Description

FreedomTax Japan is on a mission to make tax filing a breeze for everyone. We're searching for a talented Software Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in building and maintaining our industry-leading tax filing application.


Responsibilities

  • Automating the core functionalities of our tax filing application, focusing on streamlining user workflows and creating a seamless experience for our rapidly growing user base (thousands strong!).
  • Integrating with various APIs, including those from the IRS and other tax authorities relevant to Japan (experience with My Number (マイナンバー) and eTax is a big plus!).
  • Leading the development process: You'll be the technical champion, guiding our application's development from design and implementation to testing and deployment. You'll collaborate closely with our team to ensure we follow best practices in methodologies, databases, version control systems (like Git), and API integrations.
  • Collaborating closely with our UX designers and product managers to ensure our application meets the needs of our users.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer with a strong understanding of web development principles.
  • Proficiency in a modern programming language like Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with backend technologies like databases, APIs, and web frameworks.
  • 日本語 skills are a big plus to be able to make progress with integrating with Japan-specific systems like My Number (マイナンバー) and eTax.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for building user-friendly and reliable software.
