Role Summary

This position will be data engineer working for the newly formed Japan Data Office team at Manulife Japan. Japan Data Office works closely with the region's ADO team to support and ensure stable operation of Datalake and other data platforms. The Japan Data Office will also assist the Advanced Analytics team and other business units in leveraging data. The team also leads the design of the data architecture and data flow for the development of IT systems for a variety of projects. In the long term, the position will work with business units to establish data governance processes and structures.


Responsibilities

  • Work for Japan Data Office and collaborate regional ADO team to support our data platform and framework.
  • Make sure our data platform stability through proper monitoring.
  • Manage all data ingestion to ensure data correctness and completeness.
  • Incident management including timely incident resolution in corporate with ADO and application owners of source systems.
  • Monitor data platform performance and optimize it if necessary
  • Design data architecture and data flow around data platform.
  • Manager and support common data models like OCDM and other master and policy models.
  • Supply technical and developer support in various project s and trouble shooting.
  • Support and consult various data consumption requirements from business users.
  • Analyze data consumption needs based on discussion with business users, and design the method to extract necessary data.
  • Establish data governance model and structure.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience (Must Have)

  • Advanced communication skills (including presentation skills)
  • Flexibility and adaptability in challenging environment
  • Self-starter and able to have curiosity anything related to both technology and business
  • Overall knowledge/experience in IT / More than 10 years
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Japanese (Native level) and English (Business level)
  • Experience of data technology like relational & non-SQL database, SQL, ETL and BI tools.
  • Experience of data model and flow design and implementation.
  • Basic information/cyber security knowledge
  • Basic infra and network knowledge
  • Familiar with data architecture design patterns and models.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Azure technologies or other cloud technologies.
  • Familiar with concept of data warehouse, data mart, data lake and data fabric.
  • Self-explanatory documenting skill
  • People management skill.

Skills & Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Familiar with Microsoft Azure Data Factory
  • Experience of system developments in life insurance domain.

 Over time:

10-30 hours/month.

Salary:

Based on our Work Rules, we will consider your experience, skills and knowledge when we decide the salary.

Commutation allowance and Variable Incentive Bonus are paid based on our Work Rules.

Working Hours:

Standard Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm (Include 1 hour break. Flex-time system available)
