Job Description
The Senior Director of Marketing for Japan is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the company’s marketing efforts in the Japanese market. This role will oversee the development and execution of marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, generate demand, and accelerate revenue growth for the company’s enterprise software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Japanese market, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in B2B marketing within the technology or software industry.
Responsibilities
1. Market Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy tailored to the Japanese market, aligned with the company’s global marketing objectives
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics in Japan
- Define target customer segments and create localized messaging and positioning for the company’s products and services
- Collaborate with sales teams and partners to create industry-focused materials, including presentations, case studies, and executive-level content. Support account-based marketing and input on strategic account plans
2. Demand Generation and Lead Management:
- Design and implement integrated marketing campaigns to generate high-quality leads and pipeline growth
- Collaborate with sales teams to ensure effective lead nurturing and conversion
- Leverage digital marketing, events, partnerships, and other channels to drive demand
3. Brand Building and Awareness:
- Build and strengthen the company’s brand presence in Japan through PR, thought leadership, and content marketing
- Ensure consistent brand messaging across all marketing channels and touchpoints
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and media engagements.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing marketing team in Japan
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the marketing team
- Manage agency and vendor relationships to support marketing initiatives.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with global marketing teams to align on strategies, campaigns, and resources
- Partner with sales, product, alliance, and customer success teams to ensure a cohesive go-to-market approach
- Provide market insights to inform product development and localization efforts.
6. Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the marketing budget for Japan, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve business goals
- Monitor and report on the ROI of marketing initiatives.
7. Performance Measurement and Reporting:
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and track the effectiveness of marketing programs
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on marketing performance and market trends.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in B2B marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven success in marketing enterprise software or technology solutions in Japan
- Deep understanding of the Japanese business culture and market dynamics.
Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Japanese
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, CRM systems, and marketing automation platforms
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
