Job Description


Seeking a Product Designer with proven experience who will design doll products from concept through production working with internal teams and licensees. The candidate will be responsible for creating dynamic products within Disney franchises, working with the team to extend existing business, and generating new business. This designer will create new and innovative products every season for fashion dolls, small dolls, large dolls, role-play, dollhouses, and doll accessories. The candidate should be well versed in market trends, especially in toy and doll categories, and fashion trends. The position will report to Director, Product Design.

Responsibilities


  • Responsible for product design and development of Disney dolls (fashion and small) and doll accessories.

  • Understands and applies manufacturing and cost parameters to product design.

  • Designs all creative aspects of the product from conceptualizing to 3D development to doll fashions and features.

  • Handles product development including working with external vendors and factories on sample reviews.

  • Ensures product design excellence by making character and product corrections.

  • Applies knowledge of new trends and innovation in the marketplace.

  • Presents ideas to management and cross-functional partners.

  • Coordinates with the Manager on new projects and scheduled deadlines.

  • Limited domestic travel for onsite product approval and trade shows.

  • Exhibits ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 2 years in 3D product design or toy design experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of the girls' toy category including manufacturing techniques & materials technologies

  • Understanding of materials for both soft goods and hard goods (plastics, fabrics, etc.)

  • Excellent drawing skills and ability to create character art and character overlays.

  • Experienced at working on doll sculpts and deco

  • Able to clearly communicate and present vision/ideas both in formal and informal settings.

  • Proficient at 3D product design drawing and strong sketching and concepting skills.

  • Computer skills in the following software applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote or PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite. 3D modeling (Rhino, Solidworks, Freeform) is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills especially presentation skills.

  • Hands-on experience with doll product development.

  • Takes initiative and can work independently

  • Strong creative and innovative design skills

  • Pro-active / Can-do attitude

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Toy Design, Fashion Design or Related Field
