We are currently working on an ambitious and exciting new project and our team is growing across all departments.

As a Senior Combat Designer at UNSEEN, you will create scalable combat and play experiences that engage players. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of action, AI, animation, and collision design. You will work closely with art, animation, engineering, production, and other disciplines to drive the vision of the combat experience in the game and the implementation of fun and satisfying combat design.

Responsibilities

  • Document proposals and designs of players and enemies based on established concepts
  • Implement polished combat design in conjunction with character art, animation, VFX, and audio teams
  • Develop and refine the approach to combat and basic combat systems in Unreal Engine
  • Review and propose ideas, analysis, and implementation methods of game elements
  • Set up combat collision in collaboration with animation team
  • Implement combat behaviors for each character type using techniques such as behavior trees, animation graphs, and blueprints
  • Pitch, prototype, implement, and make balance and release adjustments for various types of enemies, including core enemies and bosses
  • Adjust the combat experience at the micro level, such as animation length and amount of damage
  • Balance systems related to combat, such as level, experience, weapons, and damage
  • Regulate parameters and frames

Qualifications

Skills & Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in game development
  • Experience in full production cycles of shipped console/PC titles
  • Proactively contribute to the project with original ideas
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • English speaking and writing skills (Japanese is a plus)
  • A positive professional attitude with curiosity and affability
  • Adaptability to respond to other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge and understanding of other disciplines such as art, technology, etc.
  • Advanced skill in action gameplay
  • Experience performing final adjustments on gameplay parameters
  • Experience and knowledge of development on various platforms
