Job Description

TEAM

Toyota's Woven City is a fully connected ecosystem powered by hydrogen fuel cells to be built at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan. It is envisioned as a 'living laboratory' and 'ever-evolving', incorporating a diversity of the latest technologies. It will be the world's most programmable city. At the same time, it is also 'human-centric', serving the needs of its citizens and keeping people safe, comfortable and happy.

Our mission is to develop services and products, including essential access control systems for Woven City. We are dedicated to developing systems that integrate IoT, identity, authorization, and security features, among others, to ensure seamless and secure operations. Specifically, our access control team manages physical devices attached to gates and doors, in addition to the cloud-based backend system of access control.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

We are hiring a front-end-focused full-stack Engineers for an individual contributor role. You will report to either the Access Control System Product Owner or the Facility Service System Function Lead, with a focus on enhancing our access control system and the work style is hybrid (office and remote).

You are expected to apply your expertise in software development, cloud-based platforms, IoT, along with your knowledge of authentication and authorization.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other engineers to define requirements, design software architecture, engage in coding, and conduct testing.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams, including city platform, operations, and security, to ensure safe and comprehensive implementation of requirements.
  • Implement systems and enhance the technical skills of team members through active contributions and mentorship.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with software development in the programming languages, such as Go, Java, Python, C# or JavaScript.
  • Experience in front-end development in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and understanding of the React ecosystem.
  • Experience in mobile app development such as Android or Windows.
  • Experience in backend development and database management, especially in deploying cloud-based applications in containerized environments like Kubernetes.
  • Good communication and strong problem-identification and solving skills.
  • Business level proficiency in English and Japanese.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience in data modeling and database management, whether in relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in developing systems that connect with IoT devices in domains such as Access Control or Smart Home.
  • Familiarity with authentication methods such as NFC, QR codes, facial recognition, and authorization methods such as Auth 2.0 and FIDO.
  • Experience in TCP/UDP for communication, data collection, and device control, RTP for image/sound data streaming.
