Job Description

TEAM

The Online Services team delivers Arene's cloud-based offerings, from low level infrastructure to top level services as products. For external Arene consumers, we provide a unified portal as a one-stop-shop for accessing all customer-facing products. For first-party partners, we develop the protocols and tooling for integrating workflows and user experiences. For internal developers, we manage the technical infrastructure for supporting the Arene ecosystem and operations. We integrate tightly with partner teams and collaborate on cross-domain features. We embrace challenges and drive innovations from scratch to delight our customers.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, and the role is hybrid - 3 days in office per week.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

The Online Services team has two major ownership areas - Frontend and Backend. As a Senior Engineer of the Online Services team, you will be exposed to a wide range of technologies, such as web applications, web-based micro-services, custom UI component libraries, and cloud infrastructure. You will be innovating on solutions from the ground up to realize rapidly evolving business scenarios. You will be an important contributor in our vision in evolving "transportation" into "mobility", harmonizing the best of "Silicon Valley innovation" and "Toyota craftsmanship". Responsibilities

• You will drive top-level cloud features that fronts the Arene development experience, such as web applications, web-based micro-services, custom UI component libraries, and cloud infrastructure.
• You will partner with stakeholders to define the best-in-class cloud services for the global market.
• You will work closely with your engineering manager and team lead to lead the design, implement, test, deploy, and maintenance across complete software development lifecycles.
• You will closely collaborate with both internal and external teams on cross-functional systems designs, providing insights and developing comprehensive solutions.
• You will work closely with your engineering manager and team lead to lead efforts to help the team produce quality technical designs, documentations, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience in planning and applying new engineering practices to improve an engineering team's efficiency and quality of work.
• Experience in modern programming languages in both backend and frontend such as Go, Java, JavaScript, Typescript or Python.
• Experience with cloud and network technologies (ex. AWS, k8s), and frontend technologies (e.g. Typescript, React)
• Basic security knowledge, such as authentication, encryption and network security protocols.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Working proficiency in English.

NICE TO HAVES:

• Experience building commercial-grade web services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience in front end frameworks such as React, Vue.js, Angular.js and Svelte.
• Experience mentoring junior/mid level software engineers.
• Experience in Agile development practices.
• Japanese language skills.
