Job Description

Arene's goal is to open vehicle programming to everyone by simplifying vehicle software development and increasing deployment frequency without compromising safety and security. This will create a whole new market of vehicle application developers who, through software, integrate a vehicle into our daily lives in novel ways. Arene aims to significantly improve how vehicles are designed and developed, and we're working closely with Toyota to realize this goal in its next-generation vehicles.

The Arene Value Delivery team, composed of Product Manager, Product Designers, and User Researchers, is dedicated to advancing Arene as a cohesive product ecosystem, fostering its reputation as a trustworthy and reliable brand, and providing cost-effective products and services that uphold the highest standards of safety and quality.

You are an experienced product manager who obsesses about the developer experience and how to continually improve it. You have the necessary background and skills to help Woven by Toyota build a world class user experience for collaboration and productivity that spans regions and business divisions. You are detail-oriented whilst not losing sight of the larger objectives. You ensure that tactical product needs always align with the strategic direction. You are able to build robust feedback loops with users and strong vendor relationships and combine those to document a clear vision for the platforms to which everyone can understand and align. You obsess about the users of your platform and place them at the center of everything you do.

You will report to the Head of Product, and this role's workplace type is onsite.

  • Work directly with engineers and partners to deliver software at automotive-grade quality while helping to drive usage of Arene with customers
  • Lead a team of product managers working with engineering teams across the org
  • Interface regularly with customers, ensuring that their needs are met, from broad requirements all the way down to detailed implementation
  • Take high-level customer/product goals, identify the requirements, integration points with other teams/customers, and shepherd the work from planning through delivery
  • Track schedules created by engineering, identify risks, and clearly communicate them to stakeholders and executives
  • Ensure continuity of geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders
  • Balance competing factors (risk mitigation and issue resolution, dependency management, fastest vs best solution, ROI, etc.)
  • Provide inspirational leadership with active listening, empathy, inclusivity, and modeling company values to maximize the performance of teams and individuals

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams on successful technology products
  • 10+ years of experience delivering automotive-grade software solutions
  • Experience managing multiple products, customers, and engineering teams at one time
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in connecting business context and customer impact to engineering tasks
  • Prior experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs and/or tier-1 suppliers
  • Embrace the challenge of creating metrics, designing product roadmaps, and influencing a diverse set of stakeholders toward a common goal

  • Fluency in Japanese
  • Experience working in the automotive industry or with vehicle software development
  • Experience with B2B software development, with a focus on enterprise customers
  • Experience working with Japanese companies
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, or Engineering
